The photographic image, for me, captures and makes tangible that which cannot (or should not be assumed to) be grasped by thought or speech: the Moment.
Like the Hindu concept of Brahman, a state of pure transcendence, the photographic image is that singularity in our world of multiplicity, in which we try to make sense of, or rebel against, that which preceded and that which immediately follows the Moment. It denies that seemingly enslaving human concept of Time by holding it in suspension and putting it on display for admirers and critics alike.
Furthermore, the photographic image distills the captured Moment, otherwise ethereal like a Zen koan, and makes it organic and potent, something that grows in its complexity, or simplicity, the longer it is observed by the human eye.
This exhibit represents images, taken over the last two years, that have stood out for me. The idea here is to show that there can be many ways to view the Moment captured, but that there is still only One Way, that of the Moment. I acknowledge that these images are made possible by the "minds eye" of the camera: the Lens.
