In the fall of 2000, I discovered the medium of photography as an artistic means of expression. Prior to this I had made attempts with the written word to express what I saw in the world around me. Yet this often seemed too contrived to me, that is, I busied myself with constructing, rather than capturing, the moment.

My primary foci over the last few years have been photographing the beauty I see in architecture, cityscapes and industry, particularly around the waterfront of Terminal Island, CA. I’ve also had the pleasure of photographing around New York City, Honolulu, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Currently my focus is on completing a body of work concerning the heavy machinery and on-dock rails of the Los Angeles waterfront, along with much of the graffiti art found on rail cars and gondolas. This work has recently expanded into a film project concerning motion images around the waterfront with accompanying ambient sound recordings.

My goals are to be able to show the beauty found in the cityscapes and heavy industry around the Southland and beyond, both via my photographic as well as film/DV imagery. Furthermore, I’m striving to collaborate with others who share similar ideas and passions for the imagery I’m looking to capture, both locally and abroad.
